By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today
Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.
Today’s featured moment:
6-year-old: “My brother said I have a tongue disease. I got pink tongue. Can you check to see if I do?”
First of all… pink tongue? Absolutely.
Second… no, baby, you don’t have a disease.
You have a sibling with a strong imagination and a loose relationship with medical licensing.
But what struck me wasn’t the joke—it was the genuine fear behind it.
Because when someone says something about us—especially someone we love—we start to question:
👉 Is it true?
👉 Am I broken?
👉 Is something wrong with me?
And don’t we do that with life, too?
Someone calls us too much, or not enough…
And suddenly, we’re asking God, “Can you check me? Is something wrong?”
But here’s what Scripture says:
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14
“The tongue has the power of life and death…” – Proverbs 18:21
Words can wound.
Even silly ones about pink tongues.
But God’s Word heals.
It tells us who we really are.
And it never changes—even when our siblings (or inner critics) say otherwise.
So if you’re questioning your worth today, take it to the One who made you.
He already checked—and He called you wonderful.
