😩 Mommy Meltdown Monday: ā€œI’m Not Yelling, I’m Just… Passionateā€

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

What made my kid cry today?

I told him to put on socks.

What made me cry today?

The sock situation.

The laundry pile.

The fact that no one seems to hear my voice unless I whisper ā€œice creamā€ from across the house.

It’s Monday.

I’m tired.

I’ve already reheated my coffee twice.

And I yelled this morning.

Not because I wanted to.

Not because I’m a terrible mom.

But because I asked four times and then stepped on a piece of cereal so sharp I thought I was going to need stitches.

šŸ’„ The Meltdown

It wasn’t pretty.

There were shoes being launched across the room (not by me—this time).

There were tears.

And at one point, I dramatically muttered, ā€œI’m doing everything for everyone all the time and no one even notices!ā€

Classic.

Textbook.

Monday.

šŸ’› The Grace

But here’s what happened after the meltdown:

My toddler climbed on my lap and wiped my tears with his entire fist.

(Effectively smearing banana on my cheek, but still—his heart was in it.)

My older kid said, ā€œSorry for not listening.ā€

My middle one just hugged me without words.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was grace.

✨ Faith Reminder:

Sometimes I think God must be so disappointed in my mom moments.

The yelling.

The eye rolls.

The sighs when someone needs something again.

But He’s not shocked by my meltdowns.

He doesn’t back away.

He leans in.

ā€œThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.ā€

— Psalm 34:18

Even when that spirit is crushed by crusty socks and scattered Goldfish crackers.

šŸ“ So here’s your reminder, mama:

If you melted down today?

You’re still a good mom.

You’re still called.

You’re still covered in grace.

Your meltdown doesn’t disqualify your mission.

You’re just human.

And God knows it.
