Some days feel like a sprint that never ends. The laundry piles up faster than I can fold it, the house sounds like a zoo on free admission day, and my to-do list just laughs at me from the counter.
I tell myself, âIf I just try a little harder, Iâll catch up.â
But somehow, no matter how much I do, thereâs always more waiting.
And thatâs when God whispers to my heart:
You donât have to hustle for grace.
The Trap of âDoing Enoughâ
As moms, as wives, as womenâwe wear so many hats that itâs easy to believe our value is tied to how well we juggle them. If the kids are happy, the meals are homemade, the house is clean, and the schedule runs smoothly, then we can rest.
But grace doesnât work that way.
Ephesians 2:8â9 says:
âFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faithâand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godânot by works, so that no one can boast.â
Grace isnât earned through hustle, performance, or perfection. Itâs received through faith and given freely by a God who loves us even when weâre running on empty.
The Moment It Clicked
One evening, I sat surrounded by toys, crumbs, and chaos. I was exhaustedâphysically, emotionally, spiritually. And then one of my boys came up, put his little head on my shoulder, and just stayed there.
No words. No requests. Just closeness.
And thatâs when I realizedâthis is what God wants from me, too.
He doesnât need my constant motion.
He just wants my presence.
Resting in Grace
When we stop hustling to earn love and start resting in the grace thatâs already ours, everything shifts. The pressure fades. The striving quiets. And peace starts to take root where exhaustion once lived.
Psalm 46:10 says, âBe still, and know that I am God.â
Not âbe perfect,â not âdo more,â just be still.
Grace meets us right where we areâin the mess, in the noise, in the middle of it all.
A Gentle Reminder
So, if today feels like too muchâif youâre tired, overwhelmed, or questioning whether youâre enoughâbreathe.
You donât have to hustle for grace.
You donât have to earn Godâs love.
You already have it.
