Today, I lost it.
Not dramatically.
Not in a “someone call for backup” kind of way.
But in that quiet, simmering, “I cannot answer one more question or clean one more thing without crying” kind of way.
The house was loud.
The dishes were piled.
Someone needed a snack again.
Another one was melting down over a sock that didn’t “feel right.”
And I just… snapped.
Yep, it was a full-blown Mommy Meltdown Monday. 🫠
I raised my voice.
I shut myself in the bathroom.
I may or may not have ugly-cried on the toilet.
And as I sat there, I felt it creep in —
That mom guilt.
That whisper: “You should be stronger. You should be more patient. You should be better.”
But here’s what I’m learning:
God doesn’t shame us for being human.
He meets us in it.
Psalm 34:18 says,
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
And I don’t know about you, but some Mondays?
My spirit feels pretty crushed.
But even here — in the mess, in the overwhelm, in the meltdown —
He is close.
He doesn’t need me to have it all together.
He just needs me to come to Him —
with my empty hands, tired eyes, and open heart.
So if today’s been a day,
if you’re counting down the minutes until bedtime,
if you’re feeling a little (or a lot) undone…
You’re not alone.
You’re seen.
You’re loved.
And you don’t have to hold it all together for God to hold you.
