Do Ants Live in Hills… or Hell? 🤔😂

Middle son: “Do ants live in hills?”

Me: “What?”

Middle son: “Do ants live in hills?”

Me: still confused

Middle son: “DO ANTS LIVE IN HILLS?”

Me: “Ohhh. Yes.”

But I’ll be honest…

The first three times I thought he was asking:

“Do ants live in hell?”

And honestly?

Some of them probably came from there.

Especially the ones that invade your kitchen out of nowhere and bite your feet like they’ve got something to prove. 🐜🔥

Parenting is full of these moments —

The misheard questions.

The hilarious misunderstandings.

The way kids say exactly what they mean, even when you have no idea what they’re talking about.

But also?

It reminded me how often we mishear God too.

He speaks gently. Clearly. Repeatedly.

And still we say,

“Wait, what?”

“Is that really You?”

“Surely You didn’t mean that…”

And yet — He doesn’t give up.

He keeps asking.

Keeps speaking.

Keeps guiding us in love.

John 10:27 says,

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Even when we’re distracted.

Even when we mishear Him the first (or third) time.

Even when we think He’s talking about ants and eternal fire. 😅

He’s patient. He repeats Himself.

And when we finally do understand — He’s right there, smiling like a good Father.

💬 What’s something your kid said recently that made you laugh, blink twice, or question your own hearing? I need to know I’m not the only one. 😆👇
