• Milk and Honey Moments: Finding Joy in Everyday Meals

There’s something sacred about gathering around the table.

In the busyness of everyday life, meals can easily become just another item on our to-do list — plan, cook, clean, repeat. But what if our mealtimes were about more than food? What if they became moments to pause, give thanks, and notice God’s hand of provision in our lives?

In this week’s podcast episode, Milk and Honey Moments: Finding Joy in Everyday Meals, I explore how even the simplest meals can remind us of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Whether it’s a peanut butter sandwich hastily packed for a lunchbox or a cozy family dinner shared at the end of a long day, every bite can point us back to the One who provides for our needs.

The Biblical Picture of Milk and Honey

Throughout Scripture, “milk and honey” are symbols of God’s abundance and blessing. When God promised the Israelites a land “flowing with milk and honey,” He was giving them hope for a future filled with His provision.

But sometimes, we forget that His abundance isn’t just found in life’s big victories — it’s woven into the everyday moments, too. The smell of fresh bread from the oven, laughter around the dinner table, or even the quiet gratitude of a meal shared alone can all be signs of His presence and care.

Turning Ordinary Meals into Sacred Moments

Here are a few ways we can bring joy and intention back to our meals:

Pause to pray – Take a moment to thank God, not only for the food but for the hands that prepared it and the people around the table. Savor the moment – Put away distractions and truly enjoy the flavors, textures, and conversation. Create connection – Share a favorite scripture, a funny story, or a blessing before you eat. Look for the sweetness – Just like honey, some moments of grace are small and easily overlooked. Slow down enough to notice them.

These simple practices can transform your kitchen and dining room into places where your faith is nourished alongside your body.

A Personal Story from My Table

Recently, I was rushing through dinner prep, trying to get everyone fed before the evening chaos began. I was frustrated and tired — until one of my kids started laughing over something silly. Suddenly, that moment shifted my perspective.

In the midst of my hurried cooking, I realized this was a “milk and honey moment.” It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t planned. But it was sweet — a reminder that God’s goodness shows up right in the middle of ordinary life.

  • Camel-flage & the God Who Sees It All

“Look at the brown lizard,” I said casually, pointing toward the wall.

    My middle son squinted.

    “Where?”

My fourth son chimed in with the honesty only a child can muster:

    “I don’t like lizards.”

Before I could say anything else, the lizard jumped.

Without missing a beat, my middle son declared,

    “You can’t see it, brother — it’s camel-flage.”

I wish you could’ve heard the seriousness in his voice.

He wasn’t joking. He really meant camel-flage. 😄

And just like that, I was laughing so hard I nearly cried.

It was a simple moment. A lizard. A mispronounced word. A brotherly observation.

But it hit me deeper than I expected.

Because motherhood is full of these split-second holy interruptions —

The kind that sneak up on you, disguised as chaos, silliness, or noise…

…and suddenly remind you: This is sacred.

It’s easy to miss God in the mundane.

He doesn’t always show up in burning bushes or parted seas.

Sometimes, He shows up in the backyard —

In the form of a camouflaged lizard and a child’s unfiltered joy.

That moment reminded me that nothing is hidden from God.

    Not even the little things.

    He sees the laughter.

    He sees the weariness.

He sees you — in the mess, in the noise, in the laughter that catches you off guard.

Psalm 139:12 says, “Even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.”

So if you’re in a season where things feel foggy, camouflaged, or unclear —

Trust that God still sees it all.

And He’s in it. Even here.

Even in the lizards. Even in the laughter. Even in the long, ordinary days of raising little humans.

Because sometimes, the holiest moments are the ones that look like “camel-flage.”

And that’s more than enough for me today.

  • “Tuesday Faith: When You’re In the Middle of the Middle”

    It’s Tuesday.
    The coffee might be cold.
    The laundry might be multiplying.
And your to-do list? It’s looking at you like it owns you.

Tuesday isn’t shiny like Monday’s fresh start, or peaceful like Sunday’s slow.
    It’s somewhere in the middle.
It’s where the real life stuff happens — the kind of faith that doesn’t make headlines, but still holds.

    💭 The Truth About Tuesdays:

    Sometimes we don’t feel inspired.
    Sometimes we don’t feel strong.
    Sometimes we just feel… tired.

And still — God is here.
Not just cheering you on from a distance, but walking beside you in the mundane.

He’s with you in the sink full of dishes, the preschool pickup line, the fourth cup of coffee, and the breath you forgot you were holding.

    📖 Scripture for Today:

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
    —Galatians 6:9

You don’t have to crush this day.
You don’t have to conquer it.
You just have to keep walking — even if it’s slow.

Because faithfulness on a Tuesday matters.

    🙏 Prayer:

God, thank You for today — for the in-between, the unglamorous, the everyday.
Help me show up with faith even when I don’t feel full of fire.
Remind me that You’re in the small things — and that small faith is still real faith. Amen.

    💛 Closing Encouragement:

If today feels quiet, ordinary, or forgettable — know this:
    God doesn’t forget.
    He sees your steps.
And He honors the ones you take when no one’s watching.

You’re not behind. You’re being held.
