• 🎙️ Welcome to the Closet Studio

Yes — I really do record this podcast in my closet.
Because in a house full of boys, laundry, and Legos, sometimes the only “quiet studio” I can find is in between the hoodies and mismatched shoes. But honestly? That’s kind of the point.

This podcast was never meant to be polished.
It was meant to be real — and real is what you’ll get here.

    👋 Meet the Podcast

“What Makes My Kid Cry Today” isn’t just a name — it’s a lifestyle.
Every Monday (and mini devotionals on Thursdays), I share stories from motherhood, moments of messy faith, and the unexpected tears, tantrums, and truth bombs that shape our days.

    💛 What to Expect

    • Cry logs (because the reasons kids cry are endless and hilarious)
    • Devotionals for moms who love Jesus but don’t always love folding laundry
    • Honest encouragement, even when your voice is tired and your coffee is cold
    • And maybe a reminder that you’re not the only one wondering if fish sticks count as protein (they do, by the way)

    🎧 Listen + Subscribe

If you’ve ever wondered how to hold joy and chaos at the same time — or just needed a laugh between spills — this podcast is for you.

    🙌 One Last Thing

This show isn’t just about parenting. It’s about faith in the thick of it.
It’s about the Jesus who meets us in the mess, the bathroom-cleaning hacks we never thought we’d try, and the kids who somehow teach us the most about grace.

So grab your headphones, step into the closet (or your car or laundry room), and press play. Let’s do this together.

So here’s something I didn’t expect to be writing so soon:

My podcast is now monetized — and now streaming on Apple Podcasts! 🎉

I know… five-minute episodes, voiceovers recorded in my closet, and the occasional toddler yelling about toast doesn’t exactly scream high production.

But somehow, this little show is growing — and it’s all thanks to you.

🎧 What This Means (and What It Doesn’t)

Let me be clear: I’m not retiring early. I’m not suddenly sponsored by a cleaning product I don’t use.

This just means that every time you hit play, it actually helps support the show.

And the best part? It’s totally free for you.

No subscriptions, no tip jars, no awkward pitches. Just keep listening — and sharing — and you’re already part of the mission.

🍏 Now on Apple Podcasts, Too!

You can now listen to What Makes My Kid Cry Today on:

Apple Podcasts Amazon Music iHeartRadio …and more coming soon!

Just search the title wherever you listen to podcasts, hit follow, and episodes will show up every Monday at 6 AM.

(Yes, even the ones recorded with my kids tapping on the door like they’re locked out of Narnia.)

🧺 Bigger Episodes Are Coming (Yes, I’ll Still Be in the Closet)

Most of my episodes so far have been short — five minutes, maybe seven on a bold day.

Because that’s usually how long I get before someone yells about missing socks or puts a toothbrush in the fridge.

But lately, God’s been nudging me to go a little deeper.

To stretch past the bite-sized and share more of the stories, the faith, and the “oh no, not again” moments of motherhood.

So yes — longer episodes are coming.

Some will hit the 8–12 minute mark… and eventually, I’d love to reach 15 minutes and beyond.

They’ll still be real. Still recorded in my closet. Still sprinkled with laughter, scripture, and maybe a meltdown or two.

Just a little more room to breathe between the giggles and the grace.

    💛 Thank You

To everyone who’s listened, laughed, cried, shared, or prayed behind the scenes: thank you.

You’ve made this more than just a podcast. You’ve helped build a community of real moms, real mess, and real grace.

Want to help out? Just listen. That’s it.

If you’d like to go the extra mile, you can leave a rating or review on Apple Podcasts. (Those help more than you know.)

  • 🕊️ Sunday Encouragement: God Still Sees You

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

Maybe this week left you tired.

    Not just “I need a nap” tired—soul-tired.

The kind of tired that coffee can’t fix and sleep doesn’t solve.

Maybe you feel invisible—like the woman behind the meals, the messes, the meltdown management.

You’ve wiped tears, picked up Cheerios, repeated yourself 47 times, and somehow still feel like you didn’t do enough.

But today, I want you to know:

    God still sees you.

    👀 The God Who Sees

There’s a beautiful name for God in Scripture:

El Roi — “The God who sees me.”

(Hagar called Him that in Genesis 16:13, when she felt alone, used, and forgotten.)

    And if He saw her—

A woman in the wilderness, hurt and hidden—

    Then He sees you, too.

    🫶 He Sees…

The way you got up before the sun. The tears you cried in the shower because you didn’t want the kids to see. The 43 times you bent low to serve little hearts that didn’t say thank you. The way you whispered “Jesus, help” over a basket of laundry and a child’s meltdown.

    None of it goes unnoticed.

    📖 Encouraging Scripture

“You are the God who sees me… I have now seen the One who sees me.”

    — Genesis 16:13

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry.”

    — Psalm 34:15

“Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

    — Luke 12:7

    🙏 A Simple Sunday Prayer

    Lord,

Sometimes I feel invisible, like all I do disappears into the noise.

    But You see me.

You see every diaper changed, every dish washed, every act of unseen love.

Remind me that I’m not just surviving motherhood—I’m serving You in it.

    And that is enough.

    Amen.

💬 Final Word for Your Sunday

    You are seen.

    You are known.

    You are held.

Not because you had a perfect week.

Not because you kept it together.

But because you belong to a God who never looks away.

    So breathe deep today.

    Sip your coffee slowly.

Let the grace of a God who sees you soak into your soul.

    You’re doing holy work, Mama.

Even when no one else notices—He does.

  • ✝️ Mom Mythbusters –Weekend Edition: “You’ll Sleep When the Baby Sleeps”

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

    🚫 Mom Mythbusters:

“You’ll sleep when the baby sleeps.”

    LOL. No. You’ll probably:

Wash bottles Cry while folding onesies Eat over the sink with one hand And stare into the void wondering what your name was before “Mom”

Let’s be honest—this one was never true.

Because babies don’t have sleep schedules.

    And neither does laundry.

    💛 Faith-Based Reflection:

Motherhood is full of moments we didn’t sign up for—like the sleep deprivation Olympics.

But God doesn’t expect us to be superhuman.

He meets us in the bleary-eyed, caffeine-fueled moments.

He offers rest that isn’t always about sleep—but peace in the middle of exhaustion.

    📖 Truth Over Myth:

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

    —Isaiah 40:29

    🙏 Mini Prayer:

    Lord, I’m tired.

    Like, bone-deep tired.

Give me just enough strength for this hour, this diaper change, this midnight feeding.

Remind me You’re not asking me to do this alone. Amen.

    📣 Comment below:

What mom myths were you told that turned out to be hilariously wrong?

Let’s bust them—one prayer, one spit-up rag, one scripture at a time.
