• 🌷 Sunday Encouragement: You’re the Right Mom for This Job

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

Maybe you’ve whispered it this week.

In the middle of a meltdown.

    After a hard doctor’s appointment.

During the 7th bedtime request for water.

Or while staring into a fridge full of ingredients but no dinner plan:

“I don’t know if I’m cut out for this.”

If you’ve ever questioned whether you’re the right mom for your child…

If you’ve ever felt like they’d be better off with someone more patient, more organized, more together—

    This one’s for you.

    👶 God Didn’t Make a Mistake

    That child of yours?

The one who challenges you, delights you, baffles you?

They were placed in your arms on purpose.

    Not by chance.

    Not by mistake.

Not because God ran out of better options.

But because He looked at your child and said,

“I’m giving them to her. Because she’s the right one.”

📖 Scripture to Hold On To

“Now may the God of peace… equip you with everything good for doing His will.”

    — Hebrews 13:20–21

    God equips those He calls.

And He called you to motherhood.

He didn’t wait for you to feel ready.

He didn’t wait for your house to be in order or your schedule to be perfect.

He handed you this holy assignment, knowing full well you’d grow in it—not before it.

    💭 You’re Not Perfect—You’re Present

You don’t have to be flawless.

You don’t have to know all the answers.

You just have to show up, day after day, with love and grace and a little bit of humor when things fall apart.

    (And maybe snacks. Snacks help.)

🙏 A Sunday Prayer for the Doubting Mom

    Jesus,

Thank You for trusting me with this child.

Some days I feel unqualified, undone, and unsure.

But You didn’t choose me by accident.

Remind me that I’m the right mom—because You say I am.

Fill in the gaps. Strengthen my spirit.

And let my children see You in the way I love them.

    Amen.

    💬 Final Thought

You may not feel like the best mom in the world today.

But to your child, you’re the only one.

And to God, you are fully equipped for this calling—messy bun, coffee breath, mismatched socks and all.

You’re the right mom for this job.

    Exactly as you are.

  • ✝️ Mini Devotional: “King Tut and Time Blindness”

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

    Conversation of the day:

    Oldest: “Whose picture is this?”

    Me: “King Tut.”

    Oldest: “When did he die?”

    Me: “Thousands of years ago.”

    Oldest: “So… 1982?”

Kids have no real concept of time.

    (And let’s be honest—sometimes I don’t either.)

But there’s something beautiful in that.

Because while they don’t grasp how long ago something happened,

they do understand that someone lived, died… and left something behind.

And that’s exactly what faith is built on:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

My oldest might think King Tut died in 1982 😅

    But Jesus?

He really did die—and rise again—and He’s still alive now.

Eternal doesn’t make sense to kids… or to us, really.

But that’s where faith steps in.

So while we may not always teach timelines well,

    we can teach truth:

👉 Jesus is not a historical figure in a dusty textbook.

👉 He’s living, active, and present—in our chaos, in our car rides, and even in our ridiculous moments.

  • Cry Log: The Exhibitionist Toddler Chronicles

By Lizzie @ What Makes My Kid Cry Today

Real Life. Real Laughs. Real Jesus.

What Makes My Kid Cry Today?

    Laugh-Cry Moment of the Day:

    There he was.

    Standing proud.

    Like Simba on Pride Rock.

Only instead of a majestic lion cub, it was my toddler.

    Naked. On the window sill.

    Diaper off.

    Moon out.

Waving at the neighborhood like a pint-sized parade float.

I didn’t know whether to cry, laugh, or apologize to every driver who passed by our house at that exact moment.

    Cue the Tears:

    And then came the tragedy.

I scooped him off the window ledge (you know, for modesty, safety, and the general sanity of the homeowners association), and what did I get?

    Tears.

    Full-blown meltdown.

Because apparently, the only thing worse than wearing a diaper is not being allowed to streak in front of strangers.

    Moral of the Story:

Motherhood is just one long emotional rollercoaster where you’re trying to keep tiny humans alive, dressed, and off public display… and sometimes you get mooned in the process.

But hey—at least we’re making memories. And mildly traumatizing the mailman.
