8-year-old: “You need to do what I want to do.”

    6-year-old: “No, I not.”

    8-year-old: “Quit being selfie.”

6-year-old: “I’m not being selfie, you are!”

    Honestly… same, kids.

We may not yell “You’re being selfie!” at each other in public anymore,

but we do fight to get our own way.

We want our plans, our comfort, our timing.

    But scripture flips that script:

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”

    —Philippians 2:3

God isn’t calling us to be selfie—He’s calling us to be servants.

To put others first, even when it’s inconvenient (or unfair).

And to remember that humility is more powerful than getting our way.

So next time you want to yell, “Quit being selfie!”—maybe stop and ask:

    Am I being selfie too?

  • What made me cry/laugh today?

My toddler took off his diaper, climbed onto the windowsill, and gave the entire neighborhood a full moon at 2pm.

    What made him cry?

When I removed him from his public display of freedom. 😭

And as I wrestled a naked boy off a windowsill and tried to maintain some shred of dignity, I thought:

    Isn’t this us and God?

    We do something ridiculous.

We expose more than we meant to.

And when God tries to gently pull us back to safety… we cry.

    But here’s the grace:

Even when we’re messy, ridiculous, and completely exposed—God doesn’t shame us. He covers us.

“Love covers a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” – Psalm 103:8

God sees your chaos, your vulnerability, your spiritual diaper disasters—and He still chooses you.

Fully known. Fully loved. Still covered.

  • What makes my kid cry today?

Kid: When am I going to be three again?

    Me: You’re not!

    Kid: 😭😭😭😭😭

    And honestly? Same.

There are days I’d love to rewind—to when life was simpler, smaller, or softer.

But God’s not calling us to go back.

He’s calling us to trust Him right where we are.

“Do not call to mind the former things… Behold, I am doing a new thing.” – Isaiah 43:18–19

Your best years aren’t behind you—they’re still unfolding in His hands.

You don’t have to be three again.

You just have to be His.
